The Columbus Division of Fire Alarm Office received the report of a fire at 8126 Equitana Way on Saturday 11.10.2012 around 1445 hours. Arriving companies found a mulit-family 16 unit with heavy fire showing near the C & D corner from the patio level on the 2nd floor declaring a working fire. Due to heavy wind conditions a 2nd alarm was struck for additional manpower to prevent the fire from extending into the roof towards the remainder of the undamaged portion of the structure. More than 40 firefighters fought the blaze that displaced 7 families of which the Red Cross assisted. A majority of nearly $250,000 damage was largely limited to the fire apartment.
